Two COMMON GROUND DOVES continued at Hansen Dam through December 21 by the main lake.
A SANDHILL CRANE was in the Antelope Valley at the A&G Sod Farms (Avenue N and 50th Street East) through December 20.
The PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER continued in the Ballona area in Playa del Rey through December 29. It associates with Black-bellied Plovers either along the creek above Pacific Ave. or on the adjacent salt pan.
A SOLITARY SANDPIPER continued by the main lake at Hansen Dam through December 21.
A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL continued along the Los Angeles River between Atlantic and Slauson through December 30.
A VEGA GULL continued along the Los Angeles River at 26th Street in Vernon through December 29. The best viewing spot is north of 26th Street on the west side of the river.
A LEAST BITTERN was at Castaic Lagoon on December 29.
SWAINSON’S HAWKS were over Griffith Park on December 22, above Monrovia on December 25 and at Castaic Lagoon on December 28.
A ZONE-TAILED HAWK was in Monrovia on December 20 and another was at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas from December 21-28.
A SHORT-EARED OWL was in the Antelope Valley at West Avenue B and 60th Street East on December 30.
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS included one continuing at Veteran’s Park in Sylmar through December 29 and one at the Altadena Golf Course on December 29.
The DUSKY-CAPPED FLYCATCHER at Vincent Lugo Park in San Gabriel continued through December 20. It has been at the east end of the park.
Up to three TROPICAL KINGBIRDS continued along the Los Angeles River at Willow Street in Long Beach through December 24.
Another TROPICAL KINGBIRD continued at the San Gabriel Coastal Basin Spreading Grounds in Pico Rivera through December 22 near the east end of Mines Ave.
The THICK-BILLED KINGBIRD in Griffith Park continued through December 28 in this area 34.1408 -118.2888. Nearby was a continuing HEPATIC TANAGER reported through December 27.
HAMMOND’S FLYCATCHERS were at Rowland Heights Park (northeast corner) on December 28 and at Alta Loma Park in Torrance on December 29.
A DUSKY-FLYCATCHER was at Hahamongna Watershed Park in Pasadena through December 30 in the east side riparian.
A WESTERN FLYCATCHER was along Lower Willow Springs Trail in Palos Verdes on December 24.
An EASTERN PHOEBE was at Lancaster City Park from December 20-23 and one continued at Lake Lindero (near the spillway) through December 22.
Another EASTERN PHOEBE was at Little Harbor on Santa Catalina Island on December 27.
A BELL’S VIREO continued at Rio de Los Angeles Park through December 27.
A SIBERIAN PIPIT was along Ballona Creek from December 21-28. It moves around the area, but a good starting point is 33.9770, -118.4305.
Up to two LAPLAND LONGSPURS and two THICK-BILLED LONGSPURS were at the A&G Sod Fields in the Antelope Valley at 50th Street East and Ave. N through December 30. This is private property, be sure to bird from the roadside only.
SAGEBRUSH SPARROWS continued at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB (letter of permission required) through December 28 and at Saddleback Butte State Park (two individuals) through December 30.
A SWAMP SPARROW continued at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through December 24 at the small dry pond near the old (closed) north shore pier.
A GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE continued at the West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail in Lakewood through December 26.
Another GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE was east of the spillway at Santa Fe Dam on December 27.
A HOODED ORIOLE continued at the Huntington Gardens (north end of the Desert Garden) in San Marino through December 28.
A VIRGINIA’S WARBLER was in Monrovia on December 21.
The CAPE MAY WARBLER at Loyola Marymount University continued through December 29 in this area 33.9687, -118.4168.
A PINE WARBLER was at Windermere Park in La Mirada through December 30 along the park’s north border.
The PAINTED REDSTART at San Dimas Canyon Park continued by the restrooms near the entrance through December 29.
Another PAINTED REDSTART continued in Brentwood through December 28.
A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at the Los Angeles County Arboretum on December 23 near the northwest corner of the property.
