First one then two TUNDRA SWANS were at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB from December 7-12. A letter of permission is required for entry.
Four BLACK SCOTERS and two WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were off Dockweiler State Beach in El Segundo on December 10. At that time the flocks were offshore from lifeguard station 47 and 54.
The RED-NECKED GREBE continued around the Fishing Pier at Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro through December 11.
WHITE-WINGED DOVES continued at a residence in Redondo Beach through December 9 and at Sunnyside Cemetery in Long Beach through December 7.
An AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER was on the breakwater off the mouth of Ballona Creek on December 12. Access if from the end of Pacific Ave. in Playa del Rey.
The PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER continued along lower Ballona Creek near Playa del Rey through December 8. It is most often seen near the UCLA boat ramp, upstream from the Pacific Ave. bridge.
A PACIFIC LOON was on Lake Palmdale on December 7. There is no public access, but the lake may be viewed from the Park and Ride lot at the northwest corner and also from the northbound Highway 14 overlook.
A “BLACK” MERLIN continued at the Bette Davis Picnic Area in Glendale through December 9.
A probable ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER (Dusky-capped can not be ruled out) was at Esperanza Elementary School on December 6.
A TROPICAL KINGBIRD continued around the lake at Entradero Park in Torrance through December 12.
A HAMMOND’S FLYCATCHER was at Hopkins Wilderness Park in Redondo Beach on December 9.
A PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER was at San Fernando Recreation Park in San Fernando on December 10.
A PACIFIC WREN was at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas on December 5. It was seen below RV Park.
Another PACIFIC WREN was in Big Santa Anita Canyon above Arcadia from December 6-11. It was between Cabin 37 and an adjacent small footbridge. Parking at Chantry Flat on weekends is very crowded and a Forest Adventure Pass must be displayed to park legally.
A HARRIS’S SPARROW was at a residence on the Palos Verdes Peninsula on December 5.
The DARK-EYED “GRAY-HEADED” JUNCO continued at Hahamongna Watershed Park in Pasadena through December 7. It was last reported along the north edge of the lower parking lot adjacent to the athletic field.
A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at a residence in Long Beach on December 8.
The PAINTED REDSTART at Inglewood Park Cemetery continued through December 9.
A SUMMER TANAGER continued at Wardlow Park in Long Beach through December 7. It was last reported north of the building across from the tennis courts.
Another SUMMER TANAGER was in Rustic Canyon on December 6.
