This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for May 9.

Two COMMON GROUND-DOVES continued along the San Gabriel River in Bellflower through May 7. They have been in the maintenance yard at the east end of Trabuco Street (on the west side of the river).

Late GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS were over Franklin Park in Redondo Beach on May 3 and near downtown Los Angeles on May 6.

One to two NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS were at the spreading basins south of Hansen Dam from May 3-7. They have been seen north of Glenoaks and east of Branford.

An immature YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh in Playa del Rey on May 4 and nearby at Del Rey Lagoon the same day.

The DUSKY-CAPPED FLYCATCHER continued at Heartwell Park in Long Beach through May 4.

A TROPICAL KINGBIRD continued at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park in Harbor City through May 8.  Often near the Ranger Station and playground area west of the lake.
