This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for August 12.
The GREATER ROADRUNNER seen along the east side of the lower Los Angeles River at Spring Street (upstream from the entrance at Willow Street) was seen through August 10.
A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was along the Los Angeles River above and below the Slauson crossing in Maywood on August 11.
A SABINE’S GULL has been at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas from August 5-11 around the north side of the reservoir.
An immature LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL has been seen off and on along the Los Angeles River in Long Beach at the Willow Street crossing through August 6.
A NEOTROPIC CORMORANT was at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh through August 8. Up to four continued at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve lake through August 11 and two more were along the Los Angeles River below Burbank Blvd. through August 6.
Five YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were at Sims Bio Pond in Long Beach on August 7 and two were at Alamitos Bay through August 11.
A male SUMMER TANAGER was at Farnsworth Park in Altadena on August 10.
