This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for August 19.
A STILT SANDPIPER was at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB on August 14. A letter of permission is required for entry.
A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was along the Los Angeles River below the Slauson Ave. crossing in Maywood through August 15.
Another SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was at Malibu Lagoon from August 14-19. A RED KNOT was seen there on August 15.
The SABINE’S GULL at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas was seen through August 16 around the north side of the reservoir.
An immature LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL has been seen off and on along the Los Angeles River in Long Beach at the Willow Street crossing through August 16.
Up to two NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS continued at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve lake through August 18.
Two YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were at Malibu Lagoon from August 14-19.
LUCY’S WARBLERS were at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB on August 14 and along the lower Los Angeles River (along the bank near the pipe bridge below Willow Street) on August 18.
A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was in Zuma Canyon on August 13.
A male INDIGO BUNTING continued along the Los Angeles River in Glendale through August 19. It was last seen just west of the Riverside Drive crossing.
