Rare Bird Alert - May 16, 2020

This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for May 16.

A male and female COMMON MERGANSERS were at Castaic Lagoon on May 11.  

Up to three COMMON GROUND-DOVES continued along the San Gabriel River in Bellflower through May 10. They have been in the maintenance yard at the east end of Trabuco Street (on the west side of the river).

Two rather late GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS were on the LA River above the Slauson crossing in Maywood on May 10.

Late COMMON LOONS were at Lake Machado at Ken Malloy Harbor Park in Harbor City on May 5 and on the lake at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas on May 15.

The ZONE-TAILED HAWK in Monrovia was reported through May 11 at Grand Ave. Park.

The TROPICAL KINGBIRD at El Dorado Park in Long Beach continued in Area 3 near the pond through May 13.

A RED-EYED VIREO was at Ken Malloy Harbor Park in Harbor City from May 11-13.  It was in a large ficus tree northeast of the north parking lot off of Vermont Ave.

The GRACE'S WARBLER at Charlton Flat continued through May 15 along the entrance road near the restrooms.

A SUMMER TANAGER was a Malaga Dunes on the Palos Verdes Peninsula on May 12.
