This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for May 6.

Two NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS continued on the wildlife lake island at the Sepulveda Basin in Van Nuys through April 30.  What was presumably one of these birds was seen nearby along the Los Angeles River below Burbank Blvd. on May 3.

Another NEOTROPIC CORMORANT was at the pond in Area 3 of El Dorado Park in Long Beach on May 1.  Others continued at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through May 1 and at Santa Fe Dam in Irwindale through May 3.  Additionally, two were at La Mirada Community Regional Park in La Mirada on May 5.

Two YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS continued at the Ballona Lagoon outlet (near the confluence with Ballona Creek) through May 3.  Three more were at Alamitos Bay (south end of
Appian Way) through April 30.

An AMERICAN DIPPER was along upper Little Rock Creek along the Burkhart Trail below Kratka Ridge on May 2.

A PRAIRIE WARBLER was at Heritage Park in Santa Fe Springs on May 3 in silk oaks near the Conservatory / Greenhouse.

A HOODED WARBLER and a BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER were found on San Clemente Island on May 4.

A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at John Anson Ford Park in Bell Gardens on May 2.
