This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for May 11, 2024.

A CACKLING GOOSE was at the Ballona Wetlands (Area B) on May 7.

A PACIFIC LOON continued at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through May 7.

A LAYSAN ALBATROSS and a HAWAIIAN PETREL were observed southeast of San Clemente Island on May 3.

A COCOS BOOBY was southeast of Santa Catalina Island on May 3.

A TROPICAL KINGBIRD continued along the Los Angeles River at Willow Street through May 5.  A RED KNOT was at this location also on May 5.

A PLUMBEOUS VIREO and a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER were at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB (letter of permission required for entry) on May 8.

PURPLE MARTINS were at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve on May 3 and at Hahamongna Watershed Park in Pasadena on May 10.

AMERICAN DIPPERS continued in San Antonio Canyon at the Barrett-Stoddard Truck Trail stream crossing through May 8.

A GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE was in Palos Verdes Estates on May 10.

A TENNESSEE WARBLER was in the parking lot at the Huntington Gardens in San Marino on May 5.

A BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was at Legg Lake in South El Monte on May 8 southeast of restroom #10.

A SUMMER TANAGER was at Bear Divide near Santa Clarita on May 8 and a SAGEBRUSH SPARROW was captured and banded there on May 9.

A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at Madrona Marsh in Torrance on May 5.
