This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for July 19.
A RED-FOOTED BOOBY was at Avalon, Santa Catalina Island on July 14.
At least three NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS continued near Hansen Dam through July 18. They were observed at the settling ponds around Branford and Glenoaks, just south of the dam.
Another NEOTROPIC CORMORANT continued along the LA River in Long Beach (just below Willow Street) through July 16.
Two more NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS were along the LA River in Glendale just below the 5 Freeway. This area can be accessed from the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk.
A BROWN PELICAN was at Lake Balboa in the San Fernando Valley on July 16.
Two YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS continued at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh through July 13. They are usually along the Lincoln Blvd. arm of the marsh.
Another YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON continued at Sims Bio Pond in Long Beach through July 12. The pond is northwest of the intersection of Loynes and the Pacific Coast Highway.
A SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was observed briefly in the Sepulveda Basin on July 14. It was south of Burbank Blvd. and west of the 405 Freeway directly south of the wildlife lake. It was last seen flying north.
A male INDIGO BUNTING was along the San Gabriel River in Pico Rivera from July 14-18. It was in willows along the west side of the river channel north of Mines Ave.
